Own a task from beginning to end

Agree jobs you will manage: meals, transport, shopping or packing. Ask what would make today easier and respect the pregnant person’s choices.

Prepare together

Know the maternity contact number and help remember appointment questions if invited. Make space for private conversations with the clinician.

  • Share shopping and meals.
  • Discuss leave, visitors and overnight support.
  • Ask before sharing news or photos.

Look after wellbeing

New parenthood can affect partners too. Ask for support if you are struggling while continuing to listen to the birthing parent. A shared practical plan helps; pressure to feel positive all the time does not.
